About us

Founded in 2005, this young club has already greatly impacted the history of the CUS through the development of amazing events that focus on developing communication and networking skills. The club has since continued to grow and produced some of the most recognizable events on campus.

The purpose of the UBC Business Communications club (Bizzcomm) is to ensure all students have the opportunity to develop excellent communication skills and strong networking abilities. In this competitive world, Bizzcomm strongly believe that these traits are necessary in order to thrive in not just in the business sector, but in all industries.

At the University of British Columbia, we are given the tools to be successful, but many students are not aware of how to properly communicate these tools to the right people in an effective manner due to weak communication skills or ineffective networking abilities. With this belief, our events are designed to help students improve these two traits regardless of their faculty or level of communication and networking abilities.

Why you should join and what does “Be Bold. Be Heard.” mean?

Our slogan for 2012 represents the goal we want to achieve for all our members. We want to help you develop your skills to give you the confidence to be bold and more importantly, be heard. When we say Be bold, we don’t mean having to do something dramatic to force people to pay attention to you. Being bold means having the confidence to truly be yourself and have the presence that makes people really want to pay attention to you. We want to ensure that your opinions are heard because we know that your opinions will have a strong impact one day. That is why we develop our events, to ensure that you can be bold and that you are heard! That is why we are here, Bizzcomm 2012 – Be Bold. Be Heard.
